It’s sad that Pamela Isley, or Poison Ivy, became the way she did because of experiments. While she was taking Biology, her professor seduced her and injected her with poisons and toxins.
This caused Poison Ivy to transform into a plant-like menace to society. One of the Batman villains, Poison Ivy started out as a wealthy girl with parents who could care less.
After this has happened, Poison Ivy’s boyfriend suddenly passes away, and she drops out of school. She is gradually changing from Pamela Isley to Poison Ivy.
Moving from Seattle to Gotham City, Poison Ivy threatens the city with toxic spores unless they meet her demands. Batman, who has just entered the city the same year, is the only one who can stop Poison Ivy.
She is one of the Batman villains that uses her potions to make other super heroes fall in love with her. Batman stops her from hurting the city, and Poison Ivy gets locked inside a mental institution for the criminally insane.
Over the years, Poison Ivy’s plant-like powers develop until she is super human. One of her weapons is the fact that her lips are poison, so she is the only one of the Batman villains who can literally give the ‘kiss of death.’
Poison Ivy was introduced in the Batman comics for a better female super villain when people began to identify with Catwoman, and even sympathize with her. Poison Ivy gave readers and audiences another sexy female nemesis to hate.
Clothed in leaves, with flaming flower bedecked red hair, Poison Ivy was one of the greatest villains that Batman ever had.

Lego Batman
The wonderful world of Lego is something everybody has grown up with, including you no matter how much you try to deny it. After taking on Indiana Jones, the little yellow Lego guys are now having a go at playing the role of the caped crusader in Lego Batman.
Lego Indiana Jones, released quite recently, proved a surprising success and boasted addictive gameplay at times – and not just for kids, or younger gamers as I prefer to call them. The graphics were as cartoon-like as you could have expected given the setting of the Lego universe with touches that reflected the Indiana Jones franchise quite well. Because of this surprising success, Lego Batman had actually built up a somewhat bizarre level of anticipation within the gaming industry.
Unfortunately Lego Batman does not live up to the expectation, and takes the series back down a notch to being, once again, just a rushed attempt at what was potentially great game concept. But not everything is bad in Lego Batman.
The controls are incredibly basic which is not actually a bad thing, given the simplicity of the gameplay itself. You will find yourself playing as Batman, Robin or the bad guys and battling your way through huge numbers of enemies towards the end of levels – where if playing as a good guy, you will face a classic boss fight to complete the level and move on through the game.
Playing as the bad guys actually proves more enjoyable than playing as Batman or Robin. The main reason for this is the added variety it brings to the game in the form of the attacks you can use and the different level partitions that you will need to fight your way through. When playing as the bad guys though, be it the Penguin, Joker, Cat Woman or somebody else, you will not actually be fighting Batman or Robin at any point but instead will be faced with police officer which is a bit disappointing.
Lego Batman lacks a lot of the humor which made Lego Indiana Jones a success through the parodies of well-known scenes taken from the movies. If Lego Batman had followed that road too it may have been a more worthwhile game. Instead, Lego Batman has been developed with a focus on the classic comic books.
Considering the game is a Lego title, you would probably expect very little that would impress you in terms of the game’s graphics – and the game does not let you down on what you will be expecting, as the graphics are poor from the outset and remain so throughout the game.
Yes it’s easy to say hey, this is Lego, what do you expect? And despite it being Lego, my answer would be something along the lines of ‘a hell of a lot more!’. It is almost as if developers Travelers Tales have dismissed the need for good graphics because of the games target audience of youngsters, automatically assuming they will not mind, and they may be right – but in my opinion this is a touch disrespectful.
With all things considered Lego Batman is a poor attempt at an action adventure game, with constantly repetitive gameplay that you quickly become tired of. The terrible artificial intelligence that operates your so-called side kick throughout the game creates a lot of stress that you would not expect to get from a Lego game, particularly when you need their help solving the puzzles. It will drive you mad – and for that reason alone Lego Batman is not something I can recommend you to buy whatever your age.
Is the latest Batman movie – The Dark Knight any good. Well, if the box office is anything to go by it can’t be all that bad! For my money, it’s simply the best, most original Batman movie so far. Batman The Dark Knight is a careering behemoth of a blockbuster. It carries on from the re-modelled Batman Begins and finds Bruce Wayne (he’s Batman you know), played by Christian Bale battling with his old adversary the Joker played by Heath Ledger. Of course, the original movie Joker was played fantastically by Jack Nicholson, but if you prefer your villains darker and certainly more sinister then you are going to love Ledgers portrayal – oh and look out for Two Face as well. The only unfortunate thing about Ledger is that, for obvious reasons, he won’t be able to play the role again – internet source have suggested that Johnny Depp might take over the role in future outings – I for one would love to see that!
Batman The Dark Knight also introduces a lot of new cool Bat-stuff to us. Batman has a new vehicle called a Batpod. Within the film it is actually a detachment from the Batmobile (now called the Tumbler) after that vehicle is catastrophically damaged by an RPG fired at close range by the Joker. Batman also has a cool new Batsuit. The original BatSuit was changed both for story and production reasons. During the production of Batman Begins, Christian Bale and the stunt men were constantly in danger of overheating because of the type of foam latex used to create the suit, so the new suit is made of polyurethane; it’s a lot cooler and more durable, despite being eight pounds heavier.
So what about the villains? Well, obviously there’s the joker – played magnificently by Ledger. He treats a stunningly staged bank robbery like his private video game with accomplices in Joker masks, blood spurting and inevitably only one winner. This Joker is a million miles from Jack Nicholson’s funny role the Batman movie. This Joker is a mad shadowy figure and Ledger doesn’t wear any of the all too common prosthetics to make his character come alive; his face is caked with mouldy makeup that highlights the red scar of a grin, the grungy hair and the yellowing teeth of a hound fresh out of hell. As the Joker says, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stranger.” But if you think he’s bad – just wait till you see Harvey Two Face – this guys on another planet – but I’ll leave that one for you to find out for yourselves!
So, there you have it Batman The Dark Knight has it all. Fast action, great gadgets, deep, sinister characters and an ongoing struggle between the forces of darkness and .. well more darkness really. What more could you want?
So is Batman The Dark Knight and good – you betcha it is, as they say, if you don’t see another film all year – make sure you see this one!
